

"I Can" Internship Program
Mentorship, training, and workplace experience for high school Students.
The 100 Black Men of Madison, Inc. "I Can" Internship Program is designed to provide high school students with valuable, real-world mentorship, training, and professional workplace experience. Our primary purpose is to empower area youth by bridging the gap between classroom learning and future careers.

How the Program Works
Internship Components:
1. Application and Selection: Interested students apply for the program.
2. Coordinator Support: Accepted interns work directly with the 100 BMM Intern Coordinator for guidance and oversight.
3. Strategic Placement: Interns are assigned to a workplace that meets strict criteria designed to ensure a meaningful experience, including:
- Alignment of the workplace's operations with the intern's stated vocational or career intentions.
- Provision of a dedicated, on-site Site Supervisor to mentor and instruct the intern.
- Provision of supervised, meaningful work activities that contribute to the organization.
Program Goals
This selective program goes beyond summer employment; it's a strategic experience designed to prepare you for life after graduation. Through participation, interns will:
- Deepen Self-Awareness: Develop a clearer, deeper understanding of their personal strengths and weaknesses within a professional setting.
- Gain Realistic Exposure: Experience a realistic work environment, learning professional etiquette, communication, and organizational structure firsthand.
- Make Informed Decisions: Leave the program equipped to make informed decisions concerning their career path and vocational intentions.
