Overview

The objective of the education activities of the 100 Black Men of Madison is to empower students to reach their potential by lowering truancy rates, raising graduation rates, and exposing students to real-life learning opportunities beyond the classroom.

‚Äč

Given the desired outcome for our youth, we recognize the similarities shared by education and mentoring and strongly believe the two go hand-in-hand. Therefore, the programs we offer to students not only emphasize surrounding each student with a supportive group of adults, but also providing the resources necessary for our youth to succeed inside and outside their academic setting.

100 Scholars Process

The 100 Scholars Program works with (3rd – 12th grade) students who have shown evidence of high performance capability in intellectual, creative, artistic, leadership, or specific academic areas which need services or activities not ordinarily provided in a regular school program in order to fully develop such capabilities.

Back To School Celebration

Formerly known as “Backpacks for Success,” the Annual Back to School Celebration continues to strive towards the goal presented every summer:  to ensure a wonderful and meaningful start of the school year for all students of our Community.

"Solutions from Those with the Most to Lose."

An annual essay contest that welcomes the voice of those who are most affected by the actions of those responsible for assessments and policy development but do not involve actual commentary from relatively younger population that is ultimately affected.

Mentor, Mentee, and Educator Recognition Ceremony

An annual celebration of the mentees, educators and mentors who have demonstrated an extraordinary sense of humility and a strong commitment to continual improvement, based upon a fundamental motivation to inspire student success.

Welcome Back To School Receptions

A 1st day of school endeavor to expand our reach of encouragement and garner the participation of community partners to stage the series of "Welcome Back To School Receptions" at targeted elementary schools of the Dane County Area.
