100 Black Men of
Madison, Inc. has organized and coordinated the annual
program of the African American History Challenge Bowl
for the past 12 years. This program is patterned
after the vintage "college bowl" series on television.
Our Madison program is designed where teams of two
students from different schools (middle and high
schools) compete by answering questions based on African
American history. The winning teams from each
division receive an all expenses paid trip to compete in
the national competition against other chapters at the
National Conference of 100 Black Men of America.
All participating students receive certificates,
medallions, and a small trophy. The first place
team in each division has their school's name engraved
on a large traveling trophy, which is placed in their
school for the year.

Back to School Picnic |
|

For the past 12 years,
100 Black Men of Madison, Inc. has organized and
coordinated the highly successful Back to School Picnic
just before the beginning of each school year. It
has become a tradition that in addition to throwing a
picnic for school age children and their families, "The
100" has given out backpacks stuffed with school
supplies. In 2006, over 2,500 backpacks were given
to elementary and middle school students. With the
generous support of sponsors such as Kraft Foods and
Target, a real picnic is held each year where members of
"The 100" do the grilling. Hot dogs, hamburgers,
buns, chips and beverages are provided for all.

Golf Outing |
|

For the past 4 years,
100 Black Men of Madison, Inc. has organized and
coordinated the annual Golf Outing. This has been
the major fundraiser for the organization. It has
been held at the Cherokee Country Club.
Significant support has routinely been received from
business and individuals as they have participated in
golf, sponsored holes, made donations and/or attended
the after golf dinner.
